EIH Posts 39 Per Cent Dip in Q1 Profit

New Delhi: Hospitality major EIH Ltd, which runs hotels and resorts under Oberoi and Trident brands, on Tuesday reported a 39.24 per cent dip in standalone net profit at Rs 6.41 crore for the quarter ended June 2014.

The company had registered a net profit of Rs 10.55 crore for the corresponding period a year ago, it
said in a statement.

Standalone total income from operations of the company stood at Rs 284.12 crore in the quarter under review as against 271.16 Rs crore a year ago.

The results for the first quarter are not indicative of a full years working due to seasonal nature of the Indian hotel industry, EIH said.

Founded in 1934, Oberoi Group operates 30 hotels, a Nile Cruiser and a Motor Vessel in the backwaters of Kerala.

The group has presence in six countries under the luxury 'Oberoi' and five-star 'Trident' brand. It is also engaged in flight catering, airport restaurants, travel and tour services, car rentals, project management and corporate air charters.

Shares in EIH Ltd, on Tuesday, ended at Rs 100.20 apiece on the BSE, up 0.20 per cent from the previous close.
