Coal India Ltd., the world's largest coal producer, will consider a buyback of equity shares in a board meeting on July 11, the company announced in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing.

Five of Coal India's eight subsidiaries conducted share buybacks in June, making way for the parent company to make a similar announcement.

Shares of the company closed higher by 1.3 percent at Rs 321.7 on BSE, following the announcement.
