Bajaj Auto Ltd. sold fewer vehicles last month, making it one of the very few auto companies to not post a year-on-year rise in July. It also marked the fifth-straight month of decline for the Pune-based company.

Total sales fell by seven percent to 3,07,727 units, registering a drop in India and abroad, according to exchange filings.

It was the auto rickshaw maker's commercial vehicles segment that registered the sharpest fall last month while motorcycle sales also slowed down in India.

Overall exports fell by 10 percent, year-on-year, with all categories except commercial vehicles registering a drop.

Bajaj Auto was trading 0.8 percent down at Rs 2,800 on the National Stock Exchange at 10.01 a.m.
