Ajay Piramal, Venu Srinivasan Join Tata Sons As Independent Directors

Tata Sons on Thursday appointed TVS Motor Chairman Venu Srinivasan and Piramal group chief Ajay Piramal as non-executive directors on its board with immediate effect.

Mumbai: Tata Sons on Thursday appointed TVS Motor Chairman Venu Srinivasan and Piramal group chief Ajay Piramal as non-executive directors on its board with immediate effect.

Srinivasan is also Chairman of Sundaram-Clayton.

He served as CII President during 2009-10, SIAM President during 1999-2001 and also as Chairman of the National Safety Council.

Srinivasan was conferred with the JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award by the All India Management Association for his contribution to leadership and management, and the Jamsetji Tata Lifetime Achievement award by the Indian Society for Quality in 2004.

A Padma Shri recipient, Srinivasan holds a degree from the College of Engineering, Chennai and a Master's Degree in Management from Purdue University, US.

Piramal serves on the Harvard Business School's board of Dean's Advisors, and is also Chairman of Pratham, which claims to be the world's largest NGO in primary education.

Piramal has a BSc from Bombay University and a Master's in Management Studies from the Mumbai-based Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies.
