Adani Enterprises Ltd. has announced a strategic partnership with MetTube Mauritius Private Ltd., marking a significant step in India’s efforts to build a self-reliant copper manufacturing ecosystem.
The company will divest a 50% stake in its wholly owned subsidiary, Kutch Copper Tubes Ltd., to MetTube, according to the exchange filing on Thursday. In a reciprocal move, Adani will acquire a 50% stake in MetTube Copper India Private Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of MetTube which operates a copper tube manufacturing facility near Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Formalised through a share purchase and shareholders' agreement, the partnership aims to supply next-generation copper tube solutions to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry.
MetTube, part of the UK-headquartered Metdist Group, brings decades of global experience in the production of high-performance copper tubes. Adani, meanwhile, has already developed a robust copper infrastructure in Mundra, Gujarat, including a greenfield copper tube plant under KCTL.
The equal ownership structure is designed to ensure balanced governance and collaboration, allowing both partners to scale operations while maintaining high standards.
The alliance will contribute to India’s “Make in India” initiative by reducing reliance on imported copper tubes and supporting the country’s growing needs in HVAC, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure, the company said in the regulatory filing.
“This partnership with MetTube is a strategic leap towards making India self-reliant in copper tube manufacturing,” said Jeet Adani, whole-time director, Adani Group.
Apurv Bagri, chairman of Metdist Group, echoed the sentiment, saying, “India’s copper tube demand is growing rapidly, and this alliance strengthens our commitment to the ‘Make in India’ vision. We aim to deliver high-quality, locally manufactured inner grooved copper tubes that meet global standards.”
The partnership will also benefit from Adani’s 0.5 MTPA copper refinery in Mundra, enabling integration across the value chain. The copper tubes produced will serve fast-growing sectors such as air conditioning, refrigeration, and plumbing, aligned with India’s urbanisation and climate-resilient infrastructure goals.
