Mumbai Rains News LIVE Updates: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Mumbai for today and tomorrow, as per its seven-day bulletin. Rains continue to thrash the financial capital, schools and colleges have been shut.

Mumbai Rains LIVE: Cops Rescue Children Stuck In School Bus On Flooded Mumbai Road

Police rescued six children and two staff members from a school bus stranded on a waterlogged street in Matunga area of Mumbai amid heavy rainfall on Monday, officials said.

The bus was transporting the children and staff after their school declared a half-day due to incessant rains lashing the city.

Following the rescue, the children were then taken to the Matunga police station for safety reasons, an official said.

Mumbai Rains LIVE: Downpour Causes Waterlogging At Railway Tracks

Central Railway spokesperson Swapnil Nila said that tracks were submerged at Sion, Govandi, Mankhurd, Chembur and Kurla, while water had accumulated at some other places on the network due to rains.

"Suburban services on Harbour line were running at least 20-22 minutes late. The delay on the Main line is 20-25 minutes. Due to continuous rains, there is delay due to issue of visibility," Nila said.

CR said it had deployed personnel along its tracks in low-lying areas like Dadar, Parel, Byculla, Matunga, Wadala, Chembur, Mankhurd, Chunabhatti etc.

Rains LIVE: IMD Issues Orange Alert For Amravati, Gadchiroli

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange alert' for Amravati and Gadchiroli and 'yellow alert' for Nagpur and some other districts in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region over the next two days.

The districts for which it has issued a 'yellow alert' also include Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Washim.

"The reason behind this active weather over Vidarbha is because the Monsoon Trough (one of the semi permanent features of South West Monsoon) is south of its normal position," IMD Regional Centre Official Dr. Praveen Kumar said.

Mumbai Rains LIVE: Chief Minister Fadnavis Says 177 MM Of Rain Received In 7-8 Hours

Talking to PTI reported Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that within 7-8 hours on Monday, Mumbai has received 177 millimetres of rain and more is expected throughout the day.

He urged everyone to take necessary precautions and also informed that instances of waterlogging have been reported at 14 places in the metropolis.

"Offices have been told to allow workers to leave for home at 4pm. After 6.30 pm, 3m to 4m tides are expected. The decision on closure of schools on Tuesday will be taken at an appropriate time. Citizens must not venture out without reason," he said.
