The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex declined for a second session as Grasim Industries Ltd. and Hindalco Industries Ltd. shares weighed. The indices closed 0.34% and 0.18% down, respectively at close.

Selling pressure was broad-based, as both the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices also closed in the red. Across the board, all sectoral indices ended lower, barring the Nifty IT index. This resilience in the IT sector helped it snap a four-day losing streak, driven by gains in heavyweights like Wipro and TCS.

US Market Wrap

Volatility lashed Wall Street, with strong evidence of a cooling labor market pushing high-valuation tech stocks and crypto to big losses while bonds rallied on bets the Federal Reserve will cut rates. The Nasdaq 100 slumped 1.9%, and a closely watched volatility index briefly topped 20, reports Bloomberg.

US equity futures rose 0.1% in Asian trading on Friday. Tesla Inc. advanced 1.6% in extended trading. The S&P 500 fell 1.1%. Nvidia Corp.

The UBS US AI Winners Index tumbled nearly 3%. The yield on 10-year Treasuries slid seven basis points to 4.09%. A dollar gauge dropped 0.3%. Bitcoin sank about 3%.

Asian Market Update

The Asian equities fell after Wall Street shares declined due to concerns over stretched artificial intelligence valuations and signs of a cooling labour market. Led by declines in Japan, the MSCI Asia Pacific Index slipped 0.6%, led

Commodity Market 

Gold held steady as traders balanced surprisingly weak US employment data. Bullion traded near $3,987 an ounce on Friday. Spot gold rose 0.3% to $3,990.15 an ounce at 8:43 a.m. in Singapore, reports Bloomberg.

Oil was set for a second weekly drop, as supply increases around the world heighten concerns about the size of a forming glut. West Texas Intermediate rose toward $60 a barrel, but was still on track for a weekly decline of about 2%, while Brent settled near $63 on Thursday, reports Bloomberg.

The non-ferrous cash offer for copper settled at its day-delayed official price of US$10,723 per tonne.
