As third-quarter earnings season is underway, investors brace for the results of India's top companies like Bharti Airtel Ltd., Britannia Industries Ltd., Hero MotoCorp., ITC Ltd., State Bank of India and Trent Ltd. With six Nifty 50 companies set to report their earnings, Thursday marks the most number of major results along with over 170 companies set to declare their results.

BSE Q3 Results: Average Daily Premium Turnover Rises

The consolidated revenue from transaction charges for the third quarter rose nearly 1% to Rs 511 crore, despite a broad-based reduction in volumes across cash market and derivatives segments.

To put things in perspective, the Indian market regulator, SEBI, in a bid to curb excessive speculation in equity derivatives, proposed new measures in July 2024, including increasing the lot size and mandating the upfront collection of option premiums from buyers by trading members and clearing members.

However, BSE's average daily premium turnover for the quarter continued to see an increase, rising to Rs 8,758 crore, a 7% quarter-on-quarter jump and a 3.4 times year-on-year increase.

Bharti Airtel Q3 Results Live: Mobile Services Revenue Up 21%

Mobile services in India saw a revenue increase of 21.4% year-over-year. This growth was primarily driven by tariff adjustments and a substantial increase in smartphone customers.

Airtel Business revenues also showed positive growth at 8.7% year-on-year. The Homes business saw revenue up 18.7% yearly.

Net customer additions reached a new high of 6,74,000. However, digital TV revenues experienced a slight decline of 2.9% yearly.

Passive Infrastructure Services revenue contributed 5.7% yearly and 5.0% sequentially to the overall India revenue growth.

Bharti Airtel Q3 Results Live: ARPU Rises To Rs 245

Mobile average revenue per user has increased to Rs 245 from Rs 208 a year ago.

  • Mobile data consumption has increased by 23.2% year-over-year, with consumption per customer reaching 24.5 GB per month.

  • Postpaid net additions were 0.6 million in the third quarter.

  • Smartphone data customers have increased by 25.2 million year-over-year and 6.5 million quarter-over-quarter.

  • Smartphone data customers now make up 75.8% of the overall mobile customer base.

Q3 Results Live: Bharti Airtel Sees Exceptional Gain

Profit before tax was higher due to a net exceptional item of Rs 7,545.6 crore. This exceptional item comprises several components:

  • A gain of Rs 14,322.5 crore was realised from the sale of the Indus Towers stake.

  • A provision reversal for input tax credit on passive infrastructure services contributed Rs 128.5 crore.

  • Net foreign exchange gains amounted to Rs 1,193.6 crore.

These gains were partially offset by regulatory levies of Rs 6,358.6 crore and an impairment charge of Rs 1,740.4 crore on intangible assets. The aggregate net exceptional item of Rs 7,545.6 crore (calculated as Rs 14,322.5 crore + Rs 128.5 crore + Rs 1,193.6 crore - Rs 6,358.6 crore - Rs 1,740.4 crore) has increased the company's profit before tax.

Aurobindo Pharma is expected to clock revenue of Rs 7,816 crore. Its Ebitda is estimated at Rs 1,648 crore. The margin is projected at 21.1%, while profit is expected at Rs 893 crore.

Apollo Tyres is expected to post revenue of Rs 6,895 crore. Its Ebitda is estimated at Rs 1,040 crore, with a margin of 15.1%. Net profit is likely to be Rs 421 crore.
