Tensions between India and Pakistan along their 3,200 kilometre border boiled over for the third day. Drone intrusions into Indian territory were reported in all border states from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. Indian armed forces thwarted such attempts with use of air defence systems. Three people were injured in a residential area of Punjab's Ferozpur due to drone attack.
The government has extended the airport closures in dozens of cities till May 14. India has said Pakistani forces fired 300-400 Turkish-made drones on early morning of May 9.
Blackouts in several border towns and districts continued.

US President Donald Trump wants to see the conflict between India and Pakistan de-escalate "as quickly as possible", the White House said on Friday.
The comments by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt came as military action between India and Pakistan intensified following India's strike on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor early on Wednesday. India's strike was a powerful retaliation to the Pahalgam massacre on April 22, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.
"The President has expressed he wants to see this de-escalate as quickly as possible. He understands these are two countries that have been at odds with one another for decades, long before President Trump was here in the Oval Office," Leavitt said.
"This is something that the Secretary of State and, of course, now our national security advisor as well, Marco Rubio, has been very much involved in," Leavitt added.

The Airports Authority of India and relevant aviation authorities have issued a series of Notices to Airmen or NOTAMs announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India for all civil flight operations, effective from May 9 to May 14 (which corresponds to 05:29 IST on May 15), due to operational reasons.
The AAI has also extended the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) due to operational reasons.

India-Pakistan News Live: Drone Sightings Across Border
Drones have been sighted at 26 locations ranging from Baramulla in Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, along both the International Border and the Line of Control with Pakistan. These include suspected armed drones posing potential threats to civilian and military targets.
The locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet and Lakhi Nala.
The Indian Armed Forces are maintaining a high state of alert, and all such aerial threats are being tracked and engaged using counter-drone systems. The situation is under close and constant watch, and prompt action is being taken wherever necessary.
Citizens, especially in border areas, are advised to remain indoors, limit unnecessary movement, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. While there is no need for panic, heightened vigilance and precaution are essential.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reviewed the situation in the state in the wake of the military conflict between India and Pakistan and took feedback from officers in border districts.

Air traffic in Mumbai surges as carriers re-route flights after around 24 airports in the North are shut.
The Mumbai Flight Information Region, which usually handles about 750 international overflights daily, is now managing approximately 1,200, pushing the total daily traffic in Mumbai’s airspace beyond 3,000 flights (international and domestic).
Air traffic controllers in Mumbai are operating with vigilance as flights through the city’s airspace have surged by over 60%.

India on Thursday night neutralised Pakistan’s attempt to attack military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and other locations using missiles and drones.
Sirens and explosions were reported in Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, Kupwara and several other areas during India’s night aerial surveillance along the Pakistan border.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) banned visitor entry at airport terminal buildings across India.
BCAS also made Secondary Ladder Point Checking (SLPC) compulsory for all flights at all airports.
BCAS cited the recent attack in Pahalgam and the heightened security scenario for enhancing aviation security across installations including airports, airfields, helipads and training institutes.
Twenty-four airports across India remain closed under Operation Sindoor, following Indian armed forces’ strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir on Wednesday.
India is expected to raise concerns at the IMF over Pakistan’s bailout package during a board meeting in Washington on Friday.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said India’s executive director at the IMF will present the country’s position on the matter.

Tensions between India and Pakistan remain high following a series of cross-border strikes and retaliatory attacks.
On the night of Thursday, India intercepted multiple drones and missiles launched by Pakistan targeting key military sites in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and Amritsar.
India’s defence ministry said all incoming threats were neutralised and that the country remains fully prepared to safeguard its sovereignty.
India’s Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7, targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and areas under its administration in Kashmir. These strikes followed the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed.
