Stock Market Live: Nifty Reclaims 25,200, Sensex Ends Nearly 400 Points Higher

Indian benchmark indices concluded the trading session on a positive note, with the Sensex gaining over 300 points to end at 83,570. Nifty closed near the 25,200 mark at 25,195 effectively snapping a four-day losing streak. The Nifty also saw a strong recovery, driven primarily by the Auto and Pharma sectors.

The Nifty Auto index emerged as the top-gaining sector, with Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto leading the charge among Nifty constituents. Both Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma indices recorded gains of more than 1% during the session. All sectoral indices ended the day in positive territory, indicating broad-based buying interest.

Several sectoral indices showed significant shifts in trend. Nifty Financial Services ended its three-day losing streak, contributing to the market's positive sentiment. Furthermore, Nifty Bank, PSU Bank, Metal, Auto, Media, and Realty indices all registered gains for the second consecutive day. In a positive development for other key sectors, Nifty Oil and Gas and Nifty IT both snapped their respective four-day losing streaks. Nifty FMCG and Pharma continued their upward trajectory, extending their gains for the third consecutive day.

Rupee Strengthens Against US Dollar

Rupee appreciated by 18 paise against US dollar to close at 85.81, according to Bloomberg.

Stock Market News Live: Hero MotorCorp Top Gainer

In the Nifty 50, the biggest gainer was Hero MotoCorp with over 4% gains in trade so far, the name has been the top gainer through the day. Sun Pharma also has marked significant gains of over 2%. Names like Bajaj Auto, Apollo Hospital and Bajaj Finserv also are trading in the green.

Names dragging the index are HCL Tech, marking losses of over 3% and Eternal which is over 1% down.

After posting first quarter results, the shares of the ICICI Prudential were trading over 2% higher compared to the 0.44% advance in the Nifty 50 as of 1:50 p.m.

The shares of Waaree Renewables surged over 15% during trade so far. The scrip had risen over 16% to Rs 1,139 apiece. The counter is currently trading 15.69% higher compared to 0.42% gains in the Nifty 50 as of 1:46 p.m.

The shares of Kalyan Jewellers were trading higher after the stock is one of JM Financial's newest buys. The brokerage has set a target price of Rs 700.

JM Financial notes that the Indian jewellery market, valued at Rs 6.4 trillion in FY24, has an organised segment share of 38%. The scrip has risen over 1.50% during trade so far and these gains compare to the 0.55% advance in the Nifty 50 as of 11:11 a.m.

Nifty 50: HCLTech, Eternal Drag; Hero Moto, Eicher Gains

The index marked gains of 0.34% as of 10:43 and these gains were led by Hero MotoCorp, Eicher Motors and IndusInd Bank. Other names trading in the green was Infosys and Shriram Finance.

The names dragging the index down was HCL Tech after its first quarter results and Eternal. Tata Steel was also trading in the red along with JSW Steel and Cipla.

The shares of HCLTech was trading over 4% lower in trade during the day so far. This decline came after the company posted its first quarter results. The scrip has slipped to Rs 1,551 apiece and this decline compared to the 0.13% advance in the benchmark index Nifty 50 as of 10:18 a.m.

The shares of Tata Tech were trading higher and had risen as much as 3.52% during the day so far. The company had posted its first quarter results on Monday.

The scrip is currently trading 1.99% higher at Rs 731. These gains compares to the 0.18% gains of the Nifty 50 as of 10:14 a.m.

Further, sources say that there is no impact on the exchange and it's business as usual. All concerned authorities were informed, scanning of the premises were done. In the current geo political environment it is not an unusual instance, they said.

Stock Market News: Bomb Threat to BSE Triggers Police Action, No Explosives Found

In other news, the BSE received a bomb threat email from an ID named "Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan." The email claimed that RDX IEDs were planted to explode at 3 p.m.

The Police and bomb disposal squads carried out a full search of the premises and no suspicious objects or explosives were found. An FIR has been registered at MRA Marg Police Station, according to sources.

The first quarter business update, reported a 47% year-on-year growth in total value-added products at 79,717 tonnes and total intermediate products grew by 50% year-on-year at 92,706 tonnes.

The GIFT Nifty was trading above 25,100 early Tuesday. The futures contract based on the benchmark Nifty 50 was trading flat at 0.09% higher around 25,173.5 as of 8:46 a.m. indicating a flat start for Indian markets.

Going forward, as the new deadline for Trump's tariffs approach, Arvind Sanger from Geosphere Capital hopes for rates in line with expectations. He notes that any higher rates could cause impact on the market.

"The tariff uncertainty has gotten apass and my suspision is that this month the tariffs will be higher than that the market is assuming. Then the markets could see some profit booking as they are priced as if nothing could ever upset it," he said.

"My belief is that the market was expecting something more severe. And when it comes to Russia, President Trump seems to be losing his nerve in terms of threatening. So the markets are rightly looking through these threats and assuming that this is more President Trump trying to stop congress. The Congress was proposing a bill at the Senate with about 87 supporters. This had 500% tariffs and I won't hold my breath on anything meaningful coming out of this administration," said Sanger.
