This week is flooded with multiple companies announcing interim dividends to shareholders, including Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd., Power Grid Corp. Ltd., and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd., as their boards meet to announce December quarter earnings and allocate dividends.
Investors should note that the record date determines shareholder eligibility for dividends. Under India’s T+1 settlement cycle, shares purchased on the record date itself will not qualify for the dividend payment. The ex-dividend date, which precedes the record date, marks when the share price adjusts to reflect the upcoming payout.
