Amid the Golden Globe Awards that generated a lot of controversy and uproar among fans over some of the award choices, Rotten Tomatoes has released its own set of awards for 2025.
While the Golden Globe Awards were dominated by Netflix's Adolescence, Rotten Tomatoes has picked Andor as the best show of 2025, beating Apple TV shows Severance and Pluribus as well as Netflix's Adolescence.
Andor is essentially a sci-fi thriller, belonging to the Star Wars franchise. Starring the likes of Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgaard and Adria Arjona, among others.
Regarded as a spiritual prequel to the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars story, Andor follows the story of Cassian Andor, a key character in Rogue One. The story is set during the reign of the empire, receiving a lot of appear for its gritty, mature and grounded take on Star Wars.
There are no lightsabers or jedis, just a collection of individuals harbouring resentment against the Empire's cruelty and oppression, eventually leading up to the events of Rogue One and from then on, The New Hope.
Tony Gilroy's mature take on Star Wars saw Andor receive a Rotten Tomatoes score of 96%, with season 2 which came out in 2025, receiving 97% score.
Although Pluribus and Adolescence both received a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score, both shows had just one season. Apple TV's Severance had two seasons, but received a lower Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%.
Pluribus did win the Best New Series award for 2025, while Adolescence secured the Best Drama award.
Apart from TV shows, Rotten Tomatoes ranked The Sinners as the best movie of 2025, ahead of Leo DiCaprio's One Battle After Another and Stellan Skarsgaard's Sentimental Value.
