IPL 2025 Auction: Teams Gear Up For Mega Bidding 

The highly anticipated Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction is set to begin shortly. The Abady Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will host the IPL 2025 mega auction and will be the second time that the auction will be held outside of India.

A total of 577 players will feature in the IPL 2025 mega auction, including 366 Indian players and 208 overseas cricketers. Three players from associate nations have also made the cut. The official IPL auction list includes 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped overseas cricketers.

As many as 204 slots will be up for grabs with 70 available slots for overseas players. The highest reserve price for the auction is Rs 2 crore, with 81 players opting to be in the highest bracket. 27 players are in Rs 1.5 crore category. There are 18 in the Rs 1.25 crore category while 23 have priced themselves at Rs 1 crore.

As the auction for the 2025 season of the Indian Premium League is set to begin shortly, here is the full list of players retained by each team earlier.

Here are some of the key highlights that viewers must know going ahead into the highly anticipated 2025 IPL auction.

Punjab Kings, formerly Kings XI Punjab, has the most funds remaining in their purse with Rs 110.5 crore followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals with Rs 83 crore and Rs 73 crore, respectively.

Punjab Kings has the four 'Right to Match' options followed the three RTMs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rajasthan Royals have already spent the most money retaining players followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Live Streaming Details

The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The auction will start at 3:00 p.m. IST or 12:30 p.m. local time. 

The Indian Premier League 2025 auction will be live-streamed on the JioCinema app and website. The live broadcast will be available on the Star Sports Network in India, where fans can watch it on television.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Live: KL Rahul | Key Player To Watch Out For

After parting ways with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul is set to enter the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Known for his calm and composed demeanour on the field, Rahul can be an explosive hitter and a shoulder to fall back on during testing hours.

KL Rahul is India's fourth-highest run scorer in T20 matches, with 2,265 runs from 72 matches. In IPL 2024, Rahul led LSG in 14 matches, scoring 520 runs at a strike rate of 136.13.

Ahead of the auction, Rahul shared his eagerness to join Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in an interview with Star Sports. "It's kind of home and the people there know me as a local Kannada boy, and it would be nice to go back there and get an opportunity again,” he said.   

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Live: Rishabh Pant | Key Player To Watch Out For

After recovering from a life-threatening accident, Rishabh Pant captained Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, scoring 446 runs at a strike rate of 155.40.

In the recent Test series against New Zealand—which India lost 3-0—Pant was seen as the only stand-out performer in the final match with his 60-run knock of 59 balls. This was preceded by a 124-ball hundred in the Test match against Bangladesh in September.

With his destructive batting and wide array of shots, Pant can become a highly sought-after player for many franchises during the mega auction. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, Pant will be a player to watch out for on Sunday.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Live: Right To Match Or RTM Explained 

The unique Right to Match provision is added to the bidding process for the IPL auction, giving former teams the opportunity to repurchase their former players at the auction's sale price. However, there is a small change this year.

If a team uses the RTM, the bid-winning team will be given the chance to make one final bid and raise their amount. If the player's old franchise choose to utilise the RTM on the final bid, then they will successfully buy back the player.

For this year's action, Punjab Kings has the four 'Right to Match' options followed by the three RTMs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have one RTM each.

Delhi Capitals have two RTMs while Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have no RTM left to use.

Gujarat Titans clinched its first IPL title in its inaugural year with Shami playing an important role, picking up 20 wickets in 17 games.

This was followed by another top-notch 2023 season. In addition to bagging 28 wickets in 17 matches, he also won the purple cap of the season. However, he missed the 2024 edition of the tournament due to injury.

The South African batsman, David Miller received Rs 7.5 crore from LSG to play in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League. His former team GT did not use the RTM option to get him back.

In his IPL career so far, David Miller has played for multiple teams including Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Gujarat Titans. His tenure in Punjab from 2012- 19 was the most memorable one.

In the inaugural season of Gujarat Titans, Miller’s contribution as a finisher and a middle order batsman helped them win the season.

Maxwell has a strong track-record on Indian pitches, as his famous unbeaten knock of 201 runs off 128 balls, that included 21 fours and 10 sixes, came in Mumbai during the 2023 ODI World Cup. The mesmerizing knock had allowed Australia to defeat Afghanistan.

Maxwell's value in the IPL is also boosted with his skills with the ball, as his part-time off-spin can prove to be effective in Indian conditions.

The South African batter, Quinton de Kock was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 3.60 crore while Jonny Bairstow remained unsold.

Quinton de Kock had an outstanding season in 2020, scoring 503 runs including four half centuries. In the previous season, the wicket keeper batsmen scored 250 runs in 11 matches with a strike rate of 134.41.

IPL 2025 Auction Live: Day One Of Auction Ends On A High Note

The first day of the electrifying IPL mega auction 2025 comes to an end. We can see a huge shift in team dynamics as marquee players including Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer among others have created history.

The Indian gun batter, Rishabh Pant becomes the most expensive player as he was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for a jaw dropping Rs 27 crore while Shreyas Iyer becomes the second most expensive player in the history of IPL, bagging Rs 26.75 crore from Punjab.

The Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore

Veteran players like David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have gone unsold while players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult have returned to their former franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians respectively.

When it comes to the foreign players, we could notice that players like Adam Zampa and Quinton de Kock secured only 2.4 crore and 3.6 crore respectively and heavyweights like Jos Buttler, Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult earned above 10 crore each.
