The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several coastal districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, for Thursday. According to the weather agency, several other districts, like Palghar, Thane, and Ratnagiri, are also expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall on May 15.
Tomorrow, isolated places in these districts are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds (40–50 km/h). During this period, some districts like Nasik and Pune are on an orange alert, the IMD said on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Weather Forecast For May 15
According to the forecast, several parts of Mumbai are likely to witness light rainfall till Sunday. However, districts like Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg will continue to remain on yellow alert due to expected moderate to heavy rainfall.
Mumbai is expected to receive light to moderate showers on Wednesday, while Thane and Raigad are on a yellow alert. The IMD predicted that these districts will likely get thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds (40- 50 kmph) at isolated places on May 15.

Mumbai Five-Day Weather Forecast:
May 14: Light to moderate rain and thundershowers.
May 15: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds (40- 50kmph) at isolated places.
May 16: Light to moderate rain and thundershowers.
May 17: Light rain and thundershowers.
May 18: Light rain.
For the next 24 hours, the weather agency expects Mumbai to have a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain and thunderstorms towards evening in the city and suburbs.
“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius,” it said.
Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, will continue in Maharashtra, Goa and other western regions till May 18, according to IMD’s morning bulletin on May 14.
The anticipated weather conditions have been induced by an upper cyclonic circulation over Gujarat and Konkan, the IMD explained.
Similar weather conditions will prevail over south and central India, while parts of north India reel under heatwave conditions. While hot and humid conditions persist over states such as West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, some relief is expected over the next few days.
