Banks across India will remain open on Saturday, May 17, which falls in the third week of the month. Last Saturday, the banks observed an extended weekend holiday till Monday in many states due to the Buddha Purnima holiday. This Saturday marks the third of the month, which is a working one for banks in India.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays every month. Notably, this month will have a total of five Saturdays. This means that May 24 will be a bank holiday across India, but May 31 will be a working day for all lenders.
Customers can utilise all digital services on May 17, despite the bank holiday. Services like online banking, mobile apps and ATMs will function as usual.
For any urgent banking needs, customers are encouraged to use these digital services. Additionally, it's advisable to plan ahead and complete any necessary in-person banking transactions before or after the holiday to avoid any inconvenience.
