As people await for the New York City Mayoral election, scheduled for later today, US President Donald Trump threatened to slash funding if Zohran Mamdani win the race. Meanwhile, he asked people to vote for Andrew Cuomo whether people like it or not.
In a post, Trump said, "If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home..."
He said that New York would have a zero chance to become great again or even at its survival as a communist. The once great city, New York will only get worse with communist at the helm. And as a president of the country, he did not want to send money after bad.
Trump reiterated that New York will be a total social and economic disaster in case Mamdani wins. His principals never fructified despite being tested for a thousand years.
He would rather see a Democrat win the race of becoming a Mayor of New York City than a communist. Mamdani has no chance of reviving New York as the greatest city in the world again.
Trump also warned against voting for Curtis Silwa, who is Mamdani's fellow Republican candidate. He said that a vote for Silwa is a vote for Mamdani. "Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice," he said.
Cuomo has been a Democrat for his entire life but running as an independent candidate for this year's mayoral election to bypass the Democratic primary, The Guardian said.
In the US, the president does not have the direct control over fund allocation to any city. Appropriation of the fund is constitutional duty of Congress, The Guardian said. Federal law forbids the controlling of how money is being spent.
