Netflix on Wednesday unveiled a new feature allowing an optimised experience for its users, which is designed to make finding something to watch simpler and more intuitive. These new features will soon be available on both TV and mobile platforms.
The global streaming giant has introduced the new offering alongside its existing features, such as personalised recommendations to keep viewers hooked to the screens.
“The new Netflix TV experience is still the one you know and love, just better,” Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim said on the rollout.
In the coming weeks and months, members worldwide will see the updated TV homepage, Netflix said. The new, improved version is designed to be more intuitive, flexible, and responsive to diverse viewing preferences.
“When we first started thinking about this project, we wanted to create an experience that was more flexible for our broad entertainment offerings, more intuitive and responsive to our members’ needs, and capable of elevating the most thrilling moments on Netflix,” Kim said.
New Features To Expect On Netflix
The platform said that it will now highlight key details like “Emmy Winner” or “number 1 in TV” upfront. This feature is aimed at helping users choose what to watch more easily through the help of relevant titles.
Shortcuts like ‘Search’ and ‘My List’ will now appear at the top of the homepage, making them easier to find and use.
Homepage recommendations will now be more responsive, adapting in real time to the current moods and interests, Netflix said.
The updated homepage features a clean, modern design for an elevated Netflix viewing experience, according to the streaming giant.
Netflix said that it is also working to improve the mobile viewing experience by introducing generative AI to the members’ discovery experience. This will allow members to search for shows and movies using natural, conversational phrases like “I want something funny and upbeat,” Netflix said.
Going forward, Netflix also plans to test vertical feeds filled with clips of its shows to engage users and spark interest.
