Tech major Xiaomi has launched its latest smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra today. Notably, the smartphone's camera technology was developed by Leica, a German camera company. The smartphone will be available for purchase from April 3 onwards, while early access will start from March 18.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra and base model were first announced by the Chinese smartphone-maker at the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The smartphone has a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and runs on the proprietary Xiaomi HyperOS 2 operating system.
Xiaomi has also launched the 'Ultra Photography Kit' for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which is intended to provide a "DSLR camera-like" experience for users. It comes with a shutter button and an "ergonomic" grip as well as a built-in battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh. The kit contains a dial and zoom lever to control exposure and camera zooming and also has a filter adaptor ring of 67 mm to attach filters to lenses of different thread sizes. The kit has a rating of IP54 for dust and splash resistance.

The smartphone will have a 16GB RAM with the same storage as the base model at 512 GB. The smartphone camera setup has a 1-inch 50MP Leica Summilux main camera, which features a Sony LYT-900 sensor and 14EV high dynamic range. It's optical zoom range is from 14mm to 200mm.
The smartphone's display has a silver-chrome finish with polyurethane leather and "aero-space grade" glass fiber.
The smartphone's photography kit has been designed to enhance the performance of its camera and bring it closer to the capabilities of a "DSLR" camera.
Like the base model, this smartphone also has a proprietary 'Xiaomi Surge Battery Management' system and 5,410 mAh battery capacity, with a 90W HyperCharge charger and 80W wireless charging speed.
The smartphone has a 6.73-inch WQHD+AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. It also has 4K slow motion video recording with 120 fps and Dolby Vision 4K 60 fps recording format with 'Ultra Image stabilisation'.
