Apple is no longer selling small-screen iPhones. With the demise of the iPhone SE, the company has now stopped offering any iPhone models with a display smaller than 6 inches. The death knell of the SE was sounded by the Apple iPhone 16e launch. The last one was the iPhone SE 3.
The smallest iPhones you can get your hands on are the iPhone 15, iPhone 16e, and iPhone 16, all having a 6.1-inch displays. The iPhone 16 Pro is slightly larger at 6.3-inches while both the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 16 Plus enjoy a 6.7-inch screen. The biggest screen of all is the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display.
Different iPhone sizes have been introduced over the years. Some of the smaller iPhones that have now been discontinued are:
● 3.5 inches – iPhone (2007)
● 4 inches – iPhone 5 (2012)
● 4.7 inches – iPhone 6 (2014)
● 5.5 inches – iPhone 6 Plus (2014)
● 5.8 inches – iPhone X (2017)
● 5.4 inches – iPhone 12 mini (2020)
For many years, Apple continued to offer at least one compact iPhone model for those who preferred smaller screens - those who did not like big bulges in pockets or smartphones taking up too much space in their bags or even students who could not afford the bigger iPhones (at least the parents did not want to splurge too much). The iPhone SE, which was first introduced in 2016, was a popular choice because it combined the power of newer iPhones with a smaller design. The last version, released in 2022, had a 4.7-inch display, the same size as the older iPhone 6, 7, and 8.
With no small iPhones left in Apple's lineup, fans of smaller phones have fewer choices. Many people hoped Apple would make smaller iPhones but for now, there are no rumours or leaks for the same.
This shift indicates that Apple is fully embracing larger screens, presumably as demand for bigger displays, longer battery life, improved multimedia experiences and artificial intelligence continues to grow.
