Samsung aims to provide users with a choice of AI tools, similar to Motorola’s approach
Samsung is likely to offer multiple AI options on its upcoming Galaxy S26 phone series. The new models are expected in early 2026.
A Bloomberg report highlighted that Samsung is in talks with OpenAI and Perplexity to offer its AI services alongside Google's Gemini AI. Earlier reports suggested Samsung might drop Gemini, but that seems unlikely.
With the move, Samsung plans to give its users the option to choose between different AI tools. If that happens, it would be the second major brand to offer such a feature after Motorola.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Samsung Mobile executive Choi Won-Joon said that the company wants to offer users more choice and is “open to any agent out there.” This development comes as OpenAI has also announced a partnership with Apple for introducing AI features in the iPhone series.
The development followed nearly a month after it was rumoured that Samsung was close to a deal with Perplexity to replace Google's Gemini AI on the Galaxy S26 series.
Earlier this month, the South Korean consumer electronics giant launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The Fold 7 uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, while the Flip 7 models run on Samsung’s in-house Exynos chips. A report by Gadgets360 highlighted that the South Korean smartphone maker has not yet decided on whether its Galaxy S26 series will use the Exynos 2600 or Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset.
Samsung’s efforts to offer more integrated features in its new series come amid rising competition from rival Apple. The US tech giant is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone next year.
Samsung and Apple are also competing to launch the “slimmest” smartphones in the market. Samsung has already taken the lead with the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was launched in May. Apple is expected to respond with the iPhone 17 Air, which is likely to debut in September.
