Samsung has unveiled the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, with early delivery beginning in India from May 27. Priced at over Rs 1 lakh, the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge outshines its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, in some aspects but also falls short in others.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the S25 Edge is its sleeker design, marking Samsung’s entry into the ultra-thin flagship smartphone market. With an ultra-slim profile, the S25 Edge is just 5.8 mm thick. When compared to Ultra (8.2 mm thick), Edge has more rounded edges. In camera setup, the Edge has only two cameras at the back, marking a deviation from the Ultra’s four cameras.
The build quality of both smartphones is the same in certain aspects. This includes a titanium frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back and IP68 certification (water resistant). However, what sets the Edge S25 apart is its ability to have greater durability for the front display. The presence of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 is supposed to prevent damage to the phone even if it falls onto concrete from a height of up to one metre.
The S25 Edge boasts a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display and has a peak brightness of 2600 nits. With a refresh rate up to 120 Hz, it has comparable screen features to Ultra (except the latter is 0.2 inches bigger). Edge also has the advantage of an anti-reflective coating that absorbs a large portion of glare.
Software performance of both models should be nearly comparable, as both are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Edge comes with 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of storage. Here, the Ultra model beats its successor by having a higher maximum storage of up to 1 TB.
In terms of camera, the Galaxy S25 Edge has a dual camera with a resolution of 200 and 12 MPx. While a telephoto lens is missing in this new model, its main sensor is intended to at least partially compensate for this downgrade. Samsung suggests that the Edge is capable of 2x lossless zoom.
Other than the camera, Samsung has also compromised with the battery of the S25 Edge, having the smallest capacity in the series of 3900 mAh. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 5000 mAh battery capacity.
While the Ultra model’s price starts at Rs 1.29 lakh for the basic variant, the Edge starts at Rs 1,09,999 for the 256GB range.
