Nothing has made official what will replace its signature Glyph Interface that the company famously “killed” last month, ushering in a new design language for future Nothing phones. The upcoming Nothing Phone 3 will debut the new design.

In a May post on X, Nothing had shared a short video, with a caption that read, “We killed the Glyph Interface.” Since then, there have been speculations as to the replacement of the Red Dot-winning Nothing phone design.

Some had claimed a dot-matrix display is coming to the Nothing Phone 3, while others even suggested the new rear panel of the Phone 3 will be able to sport personalised animations and even interactive features such as Snake-like minigames.

Now, Nothing has cleared the air about 10 days before the launch of the Phone 3 on July 1.

Nothing Phone 3 Glyph Matrix Announced

On June 19, Nothing posted on X that the Phone 3 will include the Glyph Matrix on its rear, replacing the Glyph Interface present on Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2.

“When light becomes language. Introducing the Glyph Matrix”, wrote Nothing on X, with a short video to go along.

True to some speculations, the video shows the phone flashing an animation in the top right on what appears to be a dot matrix-based rear panel. The fresh LED component on the back panel, akin to the design found in the Asus ROG phones, will now be featured on the Nothing Phone 3.

What Will Nothing Phone 3’s Glyph Matrix Do?

Notably, the Glyph Interface was a set of LED lights that lit up to indicate incoming calls, notifications, and battery status in Phone 1 and Phone 2.

In a similar vein, the Glyph Matrix should also display call alerts, other notifications, battery status, and time, along with possibly animations and interactive features, like Asus’ gaming-focused ROG devices.

Nothing hasn’t disclosed the full potential of the Glyph Matrix, but with Phone 3 launch days away, expect more to be teased.
