Leak Reveals Whether This iPhone 17 Model Will Pack A Paunch

Apple iPhone 17 series has raised hopes of fans about being special or a game-changer, in many ways. In this aspect, one of the models, the iPhone 17 Air, has drawn a lot of eyeballs as its rumored specs and features indicate it may be quite punchy. However, some reports indicate that even though it may be thin, very, very thin, but at places, it may pack a paunch.

So, an iPhone 17 that has been drawing dominating conversations because of its slim characteristics, may not be what they may have pictured in their minds. The latest leak about the iPhone 17 Air indicates that the smartphone will wow with its slimness, but there will be an ungainly hump, or bump, where the camera set up is.

Before we go deeper into that, just as an aside, the highlight of the year for most technology loving fans, is the launch of the flagship iPhones, which happens during the Fall period. Generally, sometime near the middle of September. And, if the launch of Samsung Galaxy S25 series is anything to go by, all the attention is likely to be hogged by this thin iPhone 17 Air. Notably, during the launch of Samsung Galaxy S25 series, what drew the most crowds was its own slim model, the Galaxy S25 Edge. The Air may well do that too.

Well, be that as it may, what exactly is the latest iPhone 17 leak about the Air model about? Significantly, iPhone 17 Air may be 6mm to 5.5mm thick, as per The Information and tipster Jeff Pu respectively. Then Ming-Chi Quo stepped in to say that it will be 5.5mm. That is very slim indeed.

The latest to have a word on that is by tipster Ice Universe in a post on Weibo, who seems to agree with Kuo's 5.5mm claim and revealed that the iPhone 17 Air camera hump itself is 4mm. If that is taken into account, the iPhone 17 Air, at its thickest point, where the camera bump is, may take the grand total to 9.5mm.

Is that a dealbreaker? It will most likely look odd in pant pockets, something that Google Pixel smartphone owners have had to contend with.

Other noteworthy leaks about the iPhone 17 Air suggest the presence of just a single rear camera and a 6.6-inch to 6.7-inch display, which is likely bigger than iPhone 17 at 6.3 inches, but smaller than the Pro Max.

However, Apple itself has not reacted to any of these reports by analysts and is likely to remain mum till the actual launch date. So, stay tuned!
