Apple is preparing to launch its upcoming iPhone 17 lineup in September. Among the new devices, this time Apple will launch its affordable ultra-slim model iPhone 17 Air.
While some details have emerged about the upcoming lineup, most of it remains under wraps. One of the highlights about iPhone 17 Air remains that its ultra-slim design will prompt a massive shift in battery structure for the model. Earlier speculations suggested that the battery may have less capacity.
Now, a new report has emerged revealing that iPhone 17 Air is likely to have just around 2,900 mAh battery. According to a report by GSM Arena, this is less even by iPhone standards, which are generally known for their efficient power management compared to Android devices. For instance, iPhone 16 has a 3,561 mAh cell. So far, this is the smallest battery capacity in the iPhone family.

The report also stated that the Air's battery will be housed in a steel casing. This technology was first used in the iPhone 16 Pro and is admired as it improves heat dissipation. Moreover, the steel case can also very easily be integrated with the L-shaped design of the phone's inner side. This will help with fitting its reduced-size logic board into the model.
All four new models— iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max— are expected to feature new battery adhesives. These are designed to make battery replacements easier across the entire lineup.
Designed with extreme thinness in mind, the Air will feature only a single rear camera. Another key change in the lineup will be a boost to the front camera setup. Several reports suggest that Apple will launch a 24MP front camera for all models, significantly enhancing user experience.
The company is yet to reveal an official date for the much-anticipated launch of the latest series. However, reports suggest that it will most likely happen on Sept. 8 or 9.
