A report from My Republica, citing the Hotel Association Nepal, estimates the total loss to be over Rs 25 billion.
The widespread violence, which included the vandalism, looting, and torching of nearly two dozen hotels across the country, has left many unable to operate. The Hilton Hotel in Kathmandu alone reported damages of more than Rs 8 billion.
The protests impacted hotels in several major tourist areas, including Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and other cities like Butwal and Biratnagar. The damages will affect the employment of over 2,000 workers, as many of the hotels cannot reopen without extensive repairs and reconstruction.
