Visitors and residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) should brace themselves for traffic snarls due to Independence Day celebrations. Ahead of the Independence Day full dress parade rehearsal on Aug. 12 and the main celebrations on Aug. 15, Gautam Budh Nagar Traffic Police have issued an advisory for commuters.
The traffic advisory outlines restrictions on movement of heavy, medium and light goods vehicles to and from Delhi. Road closures, diversions and restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles across Delhi-Noida borders and other parts of Delhi-NCR will remain effective between Aug. 12 and Aug. 15.
Goods vehicles coming from Gautam Buddha Nagar district will not be permitted to enter Delhi from 10 p.m. on Aug. 12 until the full dress rehearsal concludes on Aug. 13. The restriction will be again applicable from 10 p.m. on Aug. 14 until the conclusion of Independence Day events on Aug. 15. The restrictions will be applicable for all categories of goods carriers, including heavy, medium and light.
Alternate Routes For Freight Vehicles
Chilla Red Light (Border): At the Chilla Border traffic signal, drivers travelling to other states via Delhi should take the U-turn onto the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. From there, they should use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to continue their journey.
DND (Border): At the DND Border, drivers should take the U-turn at the DND Toll Plaza. From there, they need to use the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and then join the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to continue their journey.
Kalindi Kunj Yamuna Bridge (Border): Vehicles coming from the Kalindi Kunj Yamuna Bridge border should turn back before crossing Yamuna River, near the Underpass Tiraha at Jhundpura Kheda village. From there, they can take the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and then join the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to continue their trip.
Yamuna Expressway to Noida-Greater Noida Expressway: Vehicles travelling from the Yamuna Expressway toward the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and those heading to Delhi via Zero Point, should follow the route through Pari Chowk, P3, Kasna and Sirsa to connect to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
Pari Chowk to Noida-Greater Noida Expressway: Vehicles going to Delhi from Pari Chowk via Noida–Greater Noida Expressway should proceed via P3, Kasna and Sirsa to connect with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

Diversions and restrictions on heavy vehicle movements have been imposed due to heightened security arrangements around the high-security zones like the Red Fort, where the Independence Day event will be held.
