On Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 ended 0.31% and 0.47% down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.51% down.
The brent crude was trading 0.14% higher at $76.69 a barrel as of 7:04 a.m. The Bloomberg spot gold was 0.03% higher at $2,760.07 an ounce, according to data on Bloomberg terminal.
The GIFT Nifty was trading 36.50 points, or 0.16% higher at 23,150.00 as of 7:13 a.m.
The Indian equity benchmark indices closed higher for the second day in a row on Wednesday as Shriram Finance Ltd., Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Tata Motors Ltd. led the gains.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 205.85 points, or 0.90% up at 23,163.10, and the BSE Sensex ended 631.55 points or 0.83% higher at 76,532.96.
The NSE Nifty Bank also closed higher at 49,165.95. The index ended 0.61% up at 49,165.95.
Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the 19th straight session on Wednesday as they sold stocks worth Rs 2,586.4 crore. Domestic institutional investors were net buyers for the 30th consecutive session as they mopped up equities worth Rs 1,792.7 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
