Coal India Ltd., Tata Steel Ltd., Oil & Natural Gas Corp., Hindalco Industries Ltd. and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. emerged as the top gainers of the NSE Nifty 50 on Tuesday.
Eternal Ltd., Bajaj Auto Ltd., Hero MotoCorp., Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Shriram Finance Ltd. were the biggest laggards among the Nifty 50 stocks.
Coal India was the best performer, closing 1.34% higher at Rs 408.1 apiece. Tata Steel closed 1.28% up at Rs 159.59. ONGC also had a strong close at Rs 249.26 apiece. Hindalco, which announced its final quarter earnings, and Dr. Reddy's Labs were also among Tuesday's winners.
Eternal was the biggest loser, closing 4.1% down at Rs 228.28 lower. Bajaj Auto ended 3.23% lower at Rs 8,565 apiece, while Hero MotoCorp., Maruti Suzuki and Shriram Finance were also among the losers, ending 3.16%, 2.69% and 2.67% lower, respectively.
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex declined for the third session in a row. The Nifty closed 1.05% lower at 24,683.9 and the Sensex ended 1.06% down at 81,186.44.
