India's only integrated zinc producer Hindustan Zinc Ltd. contributed Rs 18,963 crore to the exchequer in FY25, as per an exchange filing on Monday. This marks a 44% increase in comparison to the preceding year, bringing the cumulative figure of exchequer contribution to Rs 87,616 crore in five years.
As per the company's 8th Tax Transparency Report, Hindustan Zinc reinforced its commitment to "nation building and transparent governance." This contribution represents a sum total of 56% of the company's revenue from operations, added the report.
Key Tax Highlights
Hindustan Zinc's operational milestones recently include the company's highest-ever mined and refined metal production at 1,095 KT and 1,052 KT. The company had also recorded a four-year low in zinc's cost of production of $1,052 per metric tonne. Hindustan Zinc had also surpassed 13.1 MT metal reserves for the first time while maintaining a mine-life of more than 25 years.
Other key highlights of the company's tax contribution, as per a press release, include payments worth Rs 18,191 crore in government royalties and levies, taxes on income worth Rs 12,393 crore, corporate dividends worth Rs 21,627 crore to the Government of India, and indirect taxes worth Rs 27,500 crore from the sale of goods.
Hindustan Zinc has also contributed an average of Rs 3,600 crore per year to the State of Rajasthan, added the release.
Share price of the zinc-producer ended marginally higher at Rs 451.30 on the NSE, outperforming the 0.47% decline in the benchmark NSE Nifty 50.
Out of the 16 analysts tracking the stock, six suggest 'buy', three recommend 'hold' and seven suggest 'sell', as per Bloomberg data. The average 12-month consensus price target implies an upside of 2.1%.
