Godrej Aerospace, an arm of Godrej & Boyce, is seeing its business growing by around 20-25% each year, according to Maneck Behramkamdin, its senior vice president and head of business.
"Aerospace now represents a significant revenue, with the company generating around Rs 450 crore annually and growing at 20-25% each year," Behramkamdin said on Tuesday, while speaking to NDTV Profit at sidelines of the Aero India 2025 event in Bengaluru.
A substantial portion of the company's growth comes from exports, with India excelling in supplying parts to global original equipment manufacturers, Behramkamdin said.
"Godrej & Boyce remains invested in Indian programs and anticipates receiving more production orders. The company plans to set up a dedicated plant for engine manufacturing in the future," he added.
Behramkamdin also pointed towards the company's long-term collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation, dating back to 1985.
The senior Godrej Aerospace executive highlighted that India requires the next generation of gas turbine engines. The company, he said, received an order two years ago to manufacture and develop these engines from the Gas Turbine Research Establishment, which is the Bengaluru-based laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
"One set of engines has been shipped to GTRE, and another set is displayed at Aero India 2025," he said.
Behramkamdin, during the conversation, noted that Godrej & Boyce collaborates with several engine manufacturers, including GE Aerospace, Safran Aircraft Engines, and Rolls-Royce. "This involvement is seen as a stepping stone to future collaborations for larger components," he said.
Behramkamdin also shared that the engines displayed at Aero India 2025 for Tejas fighter jet are the result of two years of hard work, that involved manufacturing to training and material testing. "The existing ecosystem and supply chain support this development, and the company aims to grow this quickly," he said.
