Tesla Inc. is set to open its new experience centre in New Delhi on Monday, Aug. 10. The electric vehicle giant's centre is located at Worldmark 3 in the Aerocity area of the national capital. It will offer visitors an opportunity to explore Tesla's latest EVs introduced in the Indian market so far.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk's EV major is expected to begin deliveries in India from the third quarter. Deliveries for the 500-km range variant will start in the third quarter, while the 622-km range variant will begin in the fourth quarter. Tesla is selling the China-made 'Model Y' with a price tag of nearly Rs 60 lakh after accounting for the high import duties.
Tesla marked its debut in India in July, opening its first showroom in Mumbai. The 4,000-square-foot space is located in Mumbai’s upscale financial district of Bandra Kurla Complex, inside the Maker Maxity Mall.
The company said it plans to set up three more such facilities, one each at Lower Parel, Thane and Navi Mumbai by the September quarter. The Model Y will be offered in two variants: Rear-Wheel Drive, priced at Rs 60 lakh, and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, priced at Rs 68 lakh.
Customers can also opt for Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, which adds a cost of Rs 6 lakh over the base prices.
The Model Y is available in six colour options, of which Stealth Grey is the only one offered at no additional charge. The other colours: Ultra Red, Quicksilver, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, and Glacier Blue, come at an extra cost.
Interior options include white and black themes, and the vehicle features a five-seat configuration.
