Tesla is officially making its entry into the Indian automobile market with the opening of its first store in Mumbai. The US electric vehicle maker will launch its first showroom in India at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, today (July 15).
The Tesla Experience Centre will be the first of several planned across major Indian cities, with another outlet expected to open soon in New Delhi, as per various reports.
A Long-Awaited Arrival
Tesla is set to showcase its electric SUV, the Model Y, at its Mumbai showroom. Images of the final preparations, including the vehicle being unloaded from a flatbed truck, were recently shared online by a user on X (formerly Twitter).
The Model Y has also been spotted on test runs in Mumbai and Pune in recent weeks, according to reports.
Model Y: Pricing And Range
The Model Y has been priced at Rs 61,07,190 on road Mumbai. The estimated delivery, as per the Tesla India website, will begin after September 2025.
The top speed is pencilled in at 201 kmph and the vehicle can hit 100 kmph in 5.9 secs. The range of the vehicle is 500 km.
It is available in white and black interiors for the Indian market. The car will be available in six colours — Stealth Grey, Pearl White, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Ultra Red and Quick Silver. The pricing of the vehicle, as per the norm, will differ from colour to colour.
What To Expect From The Model Y
For India, Tesla is offering the facelifted version of the Model Y, as seen in images that have surfaced online in the lead-up to the launch. The vehicle comes in a sleek, dark-grey shade with sporty black alloy wheels. Its signature coupe-like sloping roofline and clean, aerodynamic silhouette set it apart from traditional SUVs. All four wheels are reportedly equipped with disc brakes.
Interiors And Features
The India-specific Model Y will feature a black and white dual-tone interior, with premium white upholstery and a matching accent strip across the dashboard. A 15.4-inch touchscreen takes centre stage, serving as the command hub for navigation, entertainment and climate control. The SUV also includes Tesla’s signature tech features such as internet connectivity, wireless charging, multiple USB-C ports, voice-activated controls and app-based vehicle access.
