The triumphant return of India's T20 World Cup champions has hit a snag as hurricane Beryl has disrupted their travel plans, leaving Rohit Sharma and his boys stranded in Barbados. The Indian cricket team has faced unexpected delays due to the intensifying category 4 hurricane approaching the Caribbean island.

The Indian contingent, comprising players, coaching staff, families, and officials, numbers around 70 individuals. Their victory, clinched in a tense final against South Africa, marked India's second T20 World Cup triumph after an eleven-year gap. Virat Kohli's exceptional batting performance, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls, anchored India to a competitive total of 176/7, subsequently defending it to clinch the prestigious trophy.

Hurricane Beryl, with sustained winds of up to 210 kmph, loomed just 570 kilometers east-southeast of Barbados, prompting authorities to announce the closure of Bridgetown's airport. This development threw a wrench into the team's scheduled journey back home via New York and Dubai.

Originally slated to depart via Emirates flights, the team now faces the prospect of arranging a charter flight directly from Barbados to Delhi to ensure their timely return.

Sources close to the team revealed to PTI that discussions are underway to secure a charter and possibly even meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon their arrival.
