Singer Zubeen Garg Dies In Scuba Diving Accident In Singapore

Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg tragically passed away in a scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday. The 52-year-old Assamese singer was in Singapore to perform at the North East India Festival. As per NDTV report, he was rescued from the sea, but died in the hospital.

Garg shot to fame with the song Ya Ali from the Emran Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut-starrer Gangster in 2006. He was known for his work in films and music across industries in Assamese, Bengali and Hindi-language films.

On Sept. 16, Garg posted a video on his Instagram account, announcing that he would be in Singapore for the 4th North East India Festival. He was scheduled to perform at the festival on Sept. 20 and Sept. 21.

Garg's demise has sparked an outpouring of tributes, with fans and fellow artists mourning the loss of this incredible talent.

Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswas expressed his condolences on the singer's death. "Today Assam lost one of its favourite sons," the CM wrote on X. "I am in a loss of words to describe what Zubeen meant for Assam. He has gone too early, this was not an age to go," he wrote.

"Zubeen's voice had an unmatched ability to energise people and his music spoke directly to our minds and souls. He has left a void that will never be filled," he added.

Biswas also shared, how he will greatly cherish all my interactions with Garg. "Beyond his music, his connection with people and passion for helping them will always be remembered," he added.

Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ashok Singhal also paid his tribute to Zubeen on X. "Assam has lost not just a voice, but a heartbeat. Zubeen da was more than a singer, he was the pride of Assam and the nation, whose songs carried our culture, our emotions, and our spirit to every corner of the world," he wrote on X.

"Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of our beloved Zubeen Garg. Assam has lost not just a voice, but a heartbeat," wrote Singhal.

Football club NorthEast United FC, wrote condolences for the Assamese singer. "Assam has lost its heartthrob," the club posted.

"We mourn the passing of the legendary singer Zubeen Garg. His music will forever echo in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and countless admirers in this difficult time," it added.

Bollywood singer Vishal Mishra shared his condolences for Zubeen Garg on his X account.
