India's appetite for biryani continued in 2024 with over 9.1 crore online orders, averaging out to around three orders per second everyday, according to year-end insights shared by food delivery major Zomato Ltd.
Pizza took the second spot in the rankings, with over 5.8 crore orders this year.
In hot beverages, India's love for tea remained above coffee. Over 77 lakh tea orders were received on Zomato, compared to 74 lakh for coffee.
The report highlighted other interesting findings.
A Zomato user ordered 120 Manchurian combos on a train to feed the entire bogey, while a customer in Delhi explored the highest number of unique restaurants in 2024 — a staggering count of 1,377.
A Zomato Gold customer saved Rs 2,24,591 on delivery and dining under the premium subscription offer.

Zomato's quick commerce arm Blinkit witnessed an unprecedented surge in the purchase of items, from Coca-Cola cans to Maggi packets.
The country ordered a massive 1.85 crore Coca-Cola cans and 84 lakh bottles of Thums Up this year. Additionally, 14.5 lakh bottles of Maaza and nearly 38 lakh cans of tonic water were also ordered.
Instant noodles Maggi saw over 1.75 crore orders, whereas 16.43 lakh packs of dates were also sold.
Among gadgets, Blinkit delivered a total of 7.89 lakh boAt earphones. The platform users also ordered over three lakh decks of UNO cards during the year.
