Days after showering praises for Elon Musk’s efforts to reform US spending, President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to cut off government deals with his companies. Their once-strong relationship is now unravelling online in a social media feud, which appears to have been triggered due to a proposed bill.
On Tuesday, cracks in the Musk-Trump relationship surfaced after the Tesla boss criticised the sweeping tax-cut and spending bill, known as "The Big Beautiful Bill." He called it a “disgusting abomination” and warned it would worsen the federal deficit.
Since then, Trump and Musk have been locked in a social media brawl, trading jabs online.
In a post on X, Musk even escalated the feud by posting a poll: “Is it time to create a new political party in America?”
The clash between two of the world’s most influential figures has shocked everyone. At the same time, it has triggered a meme flood, as users online laugh, speculate, and predict what secrets the duo might spill next in their war of words.
Many people are suggesting that it was one of the most predictable episodes in US political history.
A meme is doing rounds on social media, showing a group of people staring at a screen.
"Twitter today," the post read.
“Days like this only come around once every few years. Embrace it. Cherish it. We deserve this,” another user said.
An X post with almost one million impressions read: “We’re like four or five tweets away from national secrets.”
“Vladimir Putin has offered to negotiate a peace deal between President Trump and Elon Musk,” read a sarcastic comment.
An X account has also reacted to the incident, saying: “Someone put Musk on a podcast immediately, this needs to escalate.”
Some celebrities have also joined the conversation. Journalist Piers Morgan invited the duo to appear on his show ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ to “duke this out for a few hours.”
Meanwhile, singer Kanye West has called for peace between the two.
In a post on X, he wrote: “Broooos please noooooo. We love you both so much.”
