Imagine a scenario where you're an admin for a WhatsApp Channel that tackles neighbourhood issues and area happenings. What if you had the ability to ask followers directly about their most pressing neighbourhood concerns, enabling you to get immediate feedback and take action.

Looks like this ability is coming your way.

WhatsApp is in the process of creating a feature that enables admins to post questions in their channels. According to WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo, this new capability will be available through the chat attachment menu, featuring a new option called “Questions”.

The “channel question message” feature could prove particularly beneficial in situations like gathering opinions on content, inquiring about followers’ potential topics of interest for the future, or even coordinating events by assessing interest or attendance.

How Does WhatsApp’s Channel Question Message Feature Work?

By choosing the “Questions” option, channel admins can craft and share a question as part of a channel update. After the update is published, everyone who views the channel will have the ability to answer the question directly.

By going to the specific update where the question was posted on their channel, channel administrators can access replies to their question. The feature will organise responses better, so admins can easily review them, get a better idea of their followers’ opinions and requirements, and consider the feedback received.

Furthermore, if the admin chooses to delete the question update, all related replies will be permanently erased. While this will easily remove unwanted messages, the admin will not have any option to recover them.

Notably, WhatsApp had earlier introduced a feature for sharing polls in channels, helping admin-followers connect. This feature enabled channel owners to create and distribute polls directly in their channels using the chat attachment menu.

Now, the channel question message feature aims to further improve interaction between channel administrators and their followers.

When Will WhatsApp’s Channel Question Message Feature Launch?

As per WABetaInfo, the feature is currently in development and not yet available for beta testing. It is expected to be launched in a forthcoming update.
