The global gaming community has been rivetted to the ongoing rumors about GTA 6 launch date. While most of it is based on calculations made on the basis of what is happening in the gaming industry, there is no respite from rumors, which are often based on some flimsy "fact" that has been "seen" or "heard" on the Net. Considering that there is no official update from Rockstar, fans would still want to know what may be happening, and notably, the best way forward would be to check what's happening in the industry and see how it fits in.
The biggest fact that indicates GTA 6 launch date is what Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar has said so far. It has, on more than one occasion said, GTA 6 launch is slated for the Fall of 2025. Now Autumn consists of many months and it gives it great flexibility to pick a suitable, if not a prefect, date.
The biggest concern for Rockstar would be to launch GTA 6 anytime around the roll out of some other reputed game and therefore, it would be eyeing a big gap. In fact, Take-Two has announced that the launch of Borderlands 4 will happen on September 23. It immediately becomes clear, that Rockstar would not like to launch around that time.
Now, there is a post on X by @GTAVI_Countdown that says, "Death Stranding 2 and Mafia The Old Country launching this summer are great indications that GTA 6 is still releasing this fall, as the industry is clearing the way for it, knowing there’s no competition."
Death Stranding 2 launch date is June 26 and Mafia: The Old Country is scheduled for a summer launch too, although no date has been set. It too is a Take-Two owned title. Another big title is Directive 8020 and its launch date is on October 2.
So, does that leave enough room for GTA 6 launch date to be set sometime during the Fall of 2025 period as officially announced? At the moment, it seems clear. And that likely indicates GTA 6 launch has not been set up for a fall! However, before you start rubbing your hands in glee at the prospect of Rockstar sticking to its schedule, and not postponing the release to 2026, do remember that the Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said, "There's always a risk of slippage."
So, can you bear to wait a few extra months considering that Rockstar has left the GTA 6 launch hanging fire for over a dozen years? Stay tuned as we bring you the latest on GTA 6!
