Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, is set to unveil its latest chatbot, Grok 3, with a live demo on Monday at 8 p.m. Pacific Time (9:30 a.m. IST on Tuesday). Musk moved up the expected release timeline in a post on X and confirmed the launch.
Grok 3 is a major upgrade, built upon xAI’s Colossus supercomputer. According to reports, this system runs off of over 100,000 Nvidia GPU hours making it a very powerful AI model that's only been trained in about 8 months.
How Grok 3 Stands Out
The chatbot is also expected to surpass its predecessor, Grok 2, released last August. Reports suggest that Grok 3 has been trained using synthetic datasets and reinforcement learning, a method that helps reduce AI errors and hallucinations while speeding up training times.
Musk has also praised the chatbot at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, calling it 'maybe the last time we'll see an AI that's better than Grok,' an apparent reference to rapid advancements in AI technology.
Grok 3 launches in a crowded space of AI. Last month, Chinese startup DeepSeek drew attention to its low-cost AI model R1, which is supposedly competitively priced compared to its OpenAI counterparts.
xAI’s Future Plans And Market Impact
Users who sign up on X, Musk’s social media platform, will get Grok 3 for free. This move will help xAI reach more people among its user base and will enable it to compete with well-known AI leaders.
xAI, meanwhile, is in talks to drum up another $10 billion from investors like Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Valor Equity Partners. If successful, the company would be valued at $75 billion, putting it further ahead in the AI race.
The latest funding round could usher in even more xAI advancements, and position xAI as a major player in this rapidly changing AI territory.
