The India Meteorological Department has forecasted very heavy rain over parts of central Maharashtra, Konkan regions and Goa, till Thursday. Isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand are also likely to get extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm/24 hours) on June 18-19, the IMD said in its afternoon bulletin on Wednesday.
It also predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue over Northeast India over next seven days, with extremely heavy rainfall over Meghalaya on June 18. Meanwhile, parts of east and central India are likely get very heavy rain till Monday.
As per the department, light or moderate rainfall is expected at most or many places over Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada between June 18-24. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Saurashtra and Kutch between June 18-19 and June 22-24.
Light or moderate rainfall is likely, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on June 18 and 19. Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha will see similar weather conditions during June 18-22. Thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) is very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh on June 18 and 19.
IMD also predicted heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during June 18, 19, 22 and 23, Gangetic West Bengal on June 23 and 24; Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha during June 18-22 and Madhya Pradesh during June 18-23.
Very heavy rainfall is expected over Bihar on June 18 and 19, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha on June 19 and Jharkhand on June 20, especially during June 20-23. West Madhya Pradesh is anticipated to see the same on June 22 and 23 and over Chhattisgarh during June 18-20.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana are anticipated to receive light or moderate rainfall at some places, accompanied by isolated thunderstorm, lightning during June 18-20.
Northwest India is likely to get light or moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph during June 18-24.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during June 18-24; Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on June 22, Haryana, Chandigarh during June 20-23, West Rajasthan on June 18 with very heavy rainfall on East Rajasthan on June 18, 19, 22 and 23, Uttar Pradesh during June 19-22 and Himachal Pradesh on June 22 and 23.
