Mumbai DRM Issues Clarification On Goa-Bound Vande Bharat Train's Deviation After Akhilesh Yadav's Post

Officials had said that the train deviated from its original course due to a technical snag at the Diva station in Thane, Maharashtra.

This was a response to a post from Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, who alleged that the train ended up going to Kalyan instead of Goa, which is its intended destination.

The Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai's Central Railway issued a clarification regarding the change of route that the CSMT Madgaon Vande Bharat express train had taken stating that the train had not derailed but had taken a different route due to technical difficulties.

This was a response to a post from Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, who alleged that the train ended up going to Kalyan instead of Goa, which is its intended destination.

The DRM responded to the tweet, stating that it was "factually incorrect" and that the train had started from its station which was the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai and arrived at the predetermined scheduled station, Madgaon as previously stated.

Officials had said that the train deviated from its original course due to a technical snag at the Diva station in Thane, Maharashtra. The express train diverted to the Kalyan route due to the problem in lieu of the original route that would have it bound for the Panvel station on the Diva-Panvel railway line.

This delayed the train's journey by 90 minutes and also caused a delay in Mumbai's local train services on the central railway.

Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Swapnil Nila, stated that the incident was caused by a failure in the signalling and telecommunications system at point number 103. This point lies between the down fast line and the fifth line at Diva Junction, a key location where trains bound for the Konkan region transition to the regular route towards Panvel station.

The train then moved to Kalyan station and then reversed to Diva, from where it continued its ongoing journey to Madgaon on the Diva-Panvel route.

"The train reached platform number six at Kalyan station around 7:04 AM via the 5th line. It was reversed to Diva station via the 6th line at 7:13 AM," Nila said.
