With Mahakumbh 2025 underway, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted that the state has now emerged as a major destination for both investment and tourism. He also emphasised that the Mahakumbh is not just a spiritual milestone but also a symbol of unity, drawing millions of pilgrims and visitors from across the globe.
The Mahakumbh is a one-of-a-kind cultural and spiritual gathering, attracting not only millions of Indian devotees but also an increasing number of foreign visitors. Mahakumbh 2025 will be remembered for its power to bridge divides, foster unity, and provide an unforgettable spiritual experience for the younger generation.
Beyond its religious significance, CM Adityanath pointed out the substantial economic potential of the event for Uttar Pradesh.
In an interview with NDTV editor-in-chief, Sanjay Pugalia, he highlighted the growing role of Uttar Pradesh as a key tourism and investment hub. He also mentioned how cities like Varanasi and Kashi are attracting religious tourists in large numbers, contributing to the state's growth.
"UP is now a big destination for tourism and investment," he affirmed. The state has focused heavily on improving its tourism infrastructure, particularly in Prayagraj, which is becoming a prime location for both spiritual and leisure tourism.
In addition to infrastructure, CM Adityanath also pointed out the government's efforts in enhancing women's safety, job creation, and the overall development of the region, creating a more favorable environment for both residents and visitors.
Significant infrastructure upgrades in Prayagraj include the construction of 14 flyovers, underpasses, and the expansion of highways to four lanes, along with additional parking spaces. The 2019 launch of a civil terminal in Prayagraj further improved the city’s connectivity, making it more accessible to visitors.
These infrastructure improvements have set the stage for a smooth and efficient experience for both pilgrims and tourists, addressing issues of cleanliness, crowd management, and traffic. With enhanced connectivity, upgraded facilities, and strong government initiatives, Uttar Pradesh is poised to attract even more investment and tourism in the years ahead.
