Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the third straight day on Friday. They remained sellers of index futures and buyers of index options and stock futures and options.

FIIs In Cash Market

Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the third straight day on Friday as they offloaded stocks worth approximately Rs 470.4 crore.

Domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers for the third straight session as they mopped up equities worth Rs 454.2 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange. The FPIs sold stocks worth Rs 3,549.95 crore on Thursday.

FIIs In Futures And Options 

Ahead of the Feb. 27 expiry, the value of outstanding positions — also called open interest in the derivatives segment — has decreased for foreign institutional investors in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 16:84%.

The FIIs sold index futures worth Rs 1,082.9 crore and bought options worth Rs 7,861.7 crore. They bought stock futures and options worth Rs 482.8 crore and Rs 8.24 crore, respectively.

FII Contract Value 

The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market decreased Rs 186.5 crore at the end of February expiry from Rs 39,767.5 crore a day earlier to Rs 39,581 crore.

F&O Cues 

The Nifty February futures were down 0.28% to 23,622.85 at a premium of 62.9 points, with the open interest down 0.16%.

The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 Feb. 13 expiry series indicated most activity at 25,500 call strikes, with the 22,500 put strikes having maximum open interest.

Long-Short Ratio  

The total long-short ratio for foreign investors rose to 1.23 from 1.22 in the previous session.
