The top 10 most-valued firms lost a cumulative Rs 1.31 lakh crore in market valuation on Monday, with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd. and Infosys Ltd. emerging as the biggest losers.
TCS' market capitalisation dropped Rs 41,608 crore to Rs 13.3 lakh crore, while that of Airtel fell by Rs 22,356.1 crore to Rs 9.11 lakh crore.
Reliance Industries Ltd. witnessed a market-cap loss of Rs 17,795.1 crore, bringing it to Rs 16.4 lakh crore. HDFC Bank Ltd. and ICICI Bank Ltd. lost Rs approximately 11,854 crore and Rs 9,351.9 crore respectively.
RIL retained its position as the most-valued firm, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd. and ITC Ltd.
India's benchmark equity market indices extended their losses for the fifth consecutive session on Monday to end at the lowest since June 2024 as information technology and metal stocks dragged the indices.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 242 points or 1.06% lower at 22,553.35, while the BSE Sensex closed 856.65 points or 1.14% down at 74,454.41. Intraday, the Nifty fell as much as 1.22% to 22,518, while Sensex lost 1.23% to 74,907.
The benchmark indices are on track to close the month with the longest losing streak since November 1996.
