Stock Market Live: RIL Gets Upgrades As Analysts See 'Favourable Catalysts'

Shares of Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd. rose after receiving multiple rating upgrades and target price hikes, as analysts see no threats to macro going ahead.

Despite steady quarterly results, the stock was still affected by weak market conditions, accentuated by trade war threats, Emkay said in a note. The brokerage maintained 'buy' on the stock, while raising the target to Rs 1,450 per share, from Rs 1,210 earlier.

Macquarie upgraded the stock to 'outperform' from 'neutral' and raised the target price to Rs 1,500 apiece from Rs 1,300. The upgrade reflects a series of incremental positives expected over the next six to 12 months, it said.

Stock Market Live: BSE To Mull Action on NSE's Expiry Shift After Hearing 'Market Voices'

Asia's oldest stock exchange will listen to feedback from market participants before reacting to a recent change in derivatives expiry day by its only domestic peer, said BSE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sundararaman Ramamurthy.

He emphasised that BSE’s approach has always been driven by what traders and investors demand. “Our stand has always been, ‘we do what the market participants want.’ Whatever is the voice of the customer, that is what we implement,” he told NDTV Profit in an exclusive interview.

The BSE chief executive added that no decision would be made unilaterally. “Any change in expiry dates will depend on what the market voice is. Once we are able to understand what the market advises, we will act accordingly.”

Stock Market Live Updates: Nifty, Sensex Reverse Two-Day Gaining Streak At Pre-Open

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex reversed two-day gaining streak Friday tracking losses in Infosys Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., and HDFC Bank Ltd. As of 9:23 a.m., the Nifty 50 30.70 points or 0.14% down at 22,514.00, and the Sensex was trading 187.94 points or 0.25% down at 74,152.16.

"After a negative opening, Nifty can find support at 22,500 followed by 22,400 and 22,300. On the higher side, 22,600 can be an immediate resistance, followed by 22,700 and 22,800," said Hardik Matalia, derivative analyst, Choice Broking.

"The Reserve Bank of India has also announced a Rs 1 lakh crore liquidity infusion into the banking system, which may have a positive impact on PSU banks. Additionally, metal stocks may maintain their upward momentum, supported by expectations of further stimulus from China," Vikas Jain, head, research, Reliance Securities.

Infosys Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., and HCLTech Ltd. weighed on the Nifty 50 index.

Reliance Industries Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Axis Bank Ltd., Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and HDFC Life Insurance Co. added to the Nifty 50 index.

On NSE, eight sectors opened higher, two lower, and two flat out of 12. The NSE Nifty Realty rose the most, and the NSE Nifty IT declined the most.

The BSE Midcap was 0.03% higher, while the BSE Smallcap was 0.59% higher as of 9:31 a.m.

On BSE, 12 sectors advanced, while nine sectors declined out of 21. The BSE Industrials rose the most, while the BSE IT declined the most.

Market breadth was skewed in favour of buyers. Around 2,212 stocks rose, 821 stocks declined, and 107 stocks remained flat.
