Will the stock market remain open on Friday, June 6, 2025? There is some confusion among the investors regarding whether trading will resume as normal market days tomorrow or not. This is mainly due to the observance of Eid-ul-Adha 2025 or Bakrid.
One of the biggest festivals celebrated by Muslims worldwide, Bakrid is observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah.
In 2025, the Arafat Day or Yaum al-Arafah -- the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah -- is on Friday (June 6). Widely observed by Muslims in India, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Saturday or June 7, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon.
Stock Market Update: NSE, BSE Open Or Closed On June 6?
As per the official holiday calendar of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), there is no market holiday on June 6. This means that trading will take place as usual on Friday.
With Bakrid being a gazetted holiday, banks across India will remain shut on Saturday (June 7), except for cities like Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
In Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, banks will remain closed on June 6 on account of Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid), as per the official bank holidays calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Stock exchanges in India usually remain shut on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on designated public holidays that are listed at the beginning of each calendar year.
Since June 7 falls on a Saturday this year, the stock market will be shut on account of the regular weekend holiday and not Bakrid.
On the official website of the National Portal of India, June 7 has been marked as a gazetted holiday on account of Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid). Most of the government offices and businesses in India will remain closed on Saturday.
