Should you buy shares of Tata Power Co. at the current price? Is ITC Ltd. a good choice from a long-term perspective? Should you keep holding SBFC Finance Ltd., and is it the right time to exit Yes Bank Ltd. and book profit? Which stock to pick between Swiggy Ltd. and Zomato Ltd.?
Manish Chowdhury, head of research at StoxBox; and Aditya Arora, multi-asset research analyst at Adlytick.in; answered these investor queries and more on NDTV Profit's Ask Profit show.
Tata Power (CMP Rs: 395.5)
Chowdhury: Hold for one year.
Expanding aggressively into renewable space.
Rooftop solar push by the government will provide business growth.
ITC (CMP: Rs 489)
Arora: Hold
Good-quality stock despite correction in the FMCG sector.
Stop-loss at Rs 470 with target of Rs 510–530.
Chowdhury: Bullish, hold.
Demerger of the hotel business will benefit shareholders.
Outlook for the hotel sector is good with limited supply and growing demand.
Tobacco and FMCG segments have increasing share in ITC operating income.
Hold stock for the long term.
Yes Bank (CMP: Rs 19:59)
Chowdhury: Sell.
Profitability trajectory has improved in the last few years, but a large equity pool lowers the earnings per share.
Lack of a good promoter an overhang on the bank.
Better alternatives in the mid-cap private bank space.
The Federal Bank Ltd. in mid-cap and ICICI Bank Ltd. in large cap look good.
SBFC Finance (CMP: Rs 91.16)
Chowdhury: Bullish.
Better-managed mid-cap NBFC company with good asset quality.
Company better placed to face headwinds from expected interest rate cuts this year.
Prefers Bajaj Finance Ltd. over peers with 15–20% upside over one year.
Swiggy (CMP: Rs 556.45) Vs Zomato (CMP: Rs 284.6)
Chowdhury: Buy Zomato
Profitability remains six–seven quarters away for Swiggy.
Zomato leads quick commerce, acquisition of Paytm's ticket business is beneficial.
Prefer Zomato over Swiggy on a two-year horizon.
Arora: Neutral
Such food tech companies move in line with Nasdaq.
No lofty expectation with these counters and they represent trading bets more than fundamental play.
Higher levels can be tapped for profit booking but valuation stretched.
CESC (CMP: Rs 189.32)
Arora: Buy
For short term, support at Rs 182.
Upside target at Rs 194–200.
ONGC (CMP: Rs 246)
Chowdhury: Buy or Hold
Correction due to crude-oil prices being little changed, causing flat quarterly results.
Valuation-wise attractive.
Starting production from new oilfields in the coming years will contribute to Oil & Natural Gas Corp.'s earnings.
