A Maharashtra lawmaker upset over the quality of dal served to him at an MLA canteen in Mumbai assaulted the canteen operator, hitting him on the face and punching him resulting the worker's collapse, NDTV said.

The incident at the Akashvani MLA canteen in Churchgate was caught on camera. A video clip has now gone viral, raising questions about the conduct of elected representatives in public. The MLA, however, said he does not regret his act and said this was the "Shiv Sena style", NDTV report added.

News Live: Bridge Collapses In Gujarat 

Fact checker, Mohammed Zubair post on X on Wednesday that a bridge has collapsed in Gujarat. He said, "In Gujarat’s Vadodara, the Gambhira Bridge connecting Anand and Vadodara collapsed. Several vehicles, including a truck, a tanker, and cars, plunged into the rive. Rescue and relief operations are currently underway."

News Live: Bharat Bandh Protests Across Country

Public transportation was disrupted across the country on Wednesday due to the intensified 'Bharat Bandh' protests organised by ten central trade unions.

In Odisha, members of the Khordha District unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) blocked the national highway in Bhubaneswar, while in Kerala, shops and malls in Kottayam remained closed in solidarity.

In Bihar, members of Biju Janata Dal’s (RJD) student wing obstructed train tracks at Jehanabad railway station, and in West Bengal, train services were disrupted as protesters blocked tracks at various stations, including Jadavpur.

A countrywide general strike called by 10 central trade unions and supported by the Left parties was underway in West Bengal on Wednesday.

Supporters of the strike, which began at 6 am, tried to block train movement at Diamond Harbour in the Sealdah South section and Shyamnagar in the North Section of Eastern Railways' Sealdah division.
