Union Minister Jitin Prasada inaugurated the second edition of Startup Mahakumbh on Thursday. The three-day event is being organised at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where entrepreneurs, investors, and thought leaders will come together to collaborate and innovate.

The event, aimed at showcasing the country's entrepreneurial spirit globally, will feature more than 45 startups, some of which were incubated at top institutions in India. This year, the event will also feature tribal entrepreneurs, a move aimed at integrating the tribal population with the mainstream society and opportunities.

In an official press release, the Commerce Ministry said that over 50 countries, including Nepal and South Korea, will join the event. Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, called the Startup Mahakumbh a true "Sangam" of startup and industry warriors. These "maharathis" or warriors will join the Delhi event from multiple districts of India and the world. Hence, one of the key themes of this event is "Jile se Jagat Tak" (From Districts to the World), highlighting the global reach of the event.

With representation from multiple districts of India and 50 countries, the event will be a great opportunity to connect and collaborate,” the ministry said.

One of the key attractions of the event is expected to be the display of a flying taxi made in India, the ministry said. Startups from prominent Indian institutes, including IIM Calcutta, IIM Kashipur, and IIT Bhilai, will be seen at the event.

Among global participants, Korea will set up a pavilion of 11 startups, showcasing its latest technological innovations. Nepal’s key attraction is expected to be its display of a 2-stage rocket powered by sustainable hybrid propulsion rocket engines.

Last year, more than 48,581 business visitors had joined the event. This figure is expected to rise this year.
