Domestic airlines flew 661.42 lakh passengers between January and May, as against 636.07 lakh during the same period in the previous year.
The annual passenger growth registered was 3.99%, while the monthly increase was 4.40%.
Indigo's local passenger market share for May rose to 61.6%, while that of Air India fell to 13.7%. The local passenger market share for both Vistara and Alliance Air remained unchanged at 9.2% and 1%, respectively.
The domestic passenger market share of Aix Connect fell to 5.1%, while that of SpiceJet declined to 4%, and Akasa Air rose to 4.8%.
In terms of on-time performance, Akasa Air surpassed other airlines at 85.9%, followed by Vistara at 81.9% and AIX Connect at 74.9%, while IndiGo was at 72.8%, Air India at 68.4% and SpiceJet at 60.7%, as per the data.
The cancellation rate for the scheduled domestic flights for the month of May was around 1.70%. Airline-wise cancellation includes Fly Big topping the list at 30. 61%, followed by Indiaone Air and Alliance Air at 9.32% and 3.98%, respectively.
